Veteran Rolling Stone magazine correspondent Michael Hastings, who was best known for his feature article that brought the resignation of Stanley McChrystal, former U.S. commander in chief in Afghanistan, was killed in a car accident on June 18.
A statement from Ben Smith said the journalist had been killed but there were no other details yet to confirm his death.
However, police noted that they had received an earlier accident report of a fatal car crash near Hollywood. According to the report, a car had slammed into a palm tree at the corner of Melrose and Highland Avenues. Authorities stated they will need to investigate the identity of the man as he was severely burned.
Hastings had also written for GQ magazine and Newsweek.
