Speeding program begins July 2 in Wisconsin

Posted under speeding accident attorneys

Starting July 2 in the state of Wisconsin, law enforcement agencies will be adding additional patrol officers to target reckless speeding drivers on the roads and highways in order to prevent needless car accidents.

There will be 120 participating agencies in the state, and the additional patrol officers will be funded through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. This initiative, entitled Summer Heat, was established to reduce the number of speed-related accidents.

Last year, 160 people lost their lives in accidents involving excessive speed, and another 7,700 individuals received injuries due to these types of crashes. Throughout 2011, upwards of 180,000 speeding citations were handed out in Wisconsin. This year, officers are hopeful that their extra efforts will reduce the number of preventable speeding accidents.

Speed-related crashes can be extremely severe, and can leave people with debilitating injuries. If you were injured in a crash related to speeding, please contact the speeding accident lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C. by calling 800-242-2874 today.
