In California, drivers are not allowed to operate a motor vehicle and talk on their cellphones at the same time. A fine can be administered if a driver is caught in the act.
On Monday afternoon in Los Angeles, Bobby Brown was pulled over for talking on his cellphone. Police officers were ready to write him a ticket when they noticed that Brown was under the influence of alcohol. He was asked to perform a field sobriety test, which police officers say he did not pass.
He was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence. He has since contacted his lawyer, and is out on bail. Brown was arrested in 1996, and convicted of a DUI. He served eight days in jail for his conviction.
