Slip and Fall Lawsuit Filed Against Tennessee Homeowner

A sheriff’s deputy in Tennesee has filed a premisesliability lawsuit against the owner of a house where he allegedly slipped on aramp.

According to Madison County Circuit Court documents, MadisonCounty Sheriff’s Department deputy Timothy J. Hernandez filed the premisesliability lawsuit against Eileen Hoppes on April 1, 2011. Hernandez claims hewas injured when he responded to a call at a house in Collinsville in September2009.

According to the complaint, the rental property whereHernandez was injured is owned by Hoppes. Hernanez claims he was visiting withthe tenant at the Richter Hill home when he slipped on a wooden ramp andinjured his right knee. The lawsuit claims Hoppes was negligent for failing tomaintain a safe entrance ramp and not providing a warning about the potentialdangers of the ramp.

Hernandez is asking the court for $50,000 in damages formedical bills, lost income, and court costs.
