A California Good Samaritan motorist who got out of his car to check on the victims of another car accident was killed when a passing car struck him. The initial accident occurred when the driver of a Ford SUV went around a curve in a construction zone too quickly and skidded on some loose gravel. As a result, his car went into a barricade. The Good Samaritan stopped to check on the first driver. While the two men were talking, a third car went around the curve. This car too was going too quickly and also skidded on loose gravel. California police are ruling that the entire incident could have been avoided if the drivers of the two crashed cars would have slowed down to the recommended speed. The accidents took place in a construction zone with a posted recommended speed of 25 miles per hour. The fatal crash was the second in two weeks.
