2 Injured in Bus, Car Crash in Wausau

Two people were injured when a Wausau city bus and a car collided Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials with the Wausau Police Departmetn, the accident occurred at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and East Thomas Street shortly before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Lieutenant Wally Olson of the Wausau Fire Department said a car was traveling east on East Thomas Street and the bus was traveling north on Prospect Avenue when the driver attempted to turn left onto Thomas, spurring the crash.

Two passengers in the car sustained minor injuries in the accident and were transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, according to Lieutenant Bill Kolb of the Wausau Police Department. The bus had a camera that recorded the accident, and police will review the tape, Kolb said.

Police have not released the names of the people involved because the investigation is still under way.

Garbage truck collides with pickup

A Weston, Wis., garbage truck collided with a pickup truck early Thursday morning in Marathon County, Wis., authorities said. Police said the accident occurred just before 5 a.m. on Camp Phillips Road at Schofield Avenue.

The pickup truck was traveling north, authorities said, and the garbage truck was traveling west when the two collided. The driver of the pickup truck was transported by ambulance to Saint Claire's Hospital in Weston with injuries, authorities said.

Semi Truck Crashes into Police Cruiser, Injures Officer

A tractor trailer crashed into a police cruiser in Mosinee during icy road conditions on I-39 on Saturday morning, injuring the police officer.

The police cruiser was pulled over to assist with an accident near Highway 153 when the driver of the semi truck lost control of his vehicle, locked his brakes, and hit the back of the cruiser, destroying it.  Several other vehicles hit the back of the tractor trailer, compounding the accident.  The police officer was taken to nearby Wausau-Aspirus Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
