An 85-year-old man was airlifted to the hospital Monday afternoon after a tractor accident left him with life-threatening injuries, police said. According to reports, the man had been thrown off his tractor in rural Baraboo, Wis., and was then hit by the machine. He lay there injured for several hours until a Sauk County deputy found him, reports said.

The man suffered severe internal injuries, police said, in addition to extreme blood loss because he had lain injured for several hours before help arrived. A 34-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man was injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening and remains in serious condition. A helicopter transported him to Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, authorities said. The police crash report said he was driving north in Grand Rapids when he failed to yield the right of way to a sport utility vehicle traveling east.
