Motorcycle Deaths on the Rise

by Administrator 29. May 2009 06:27

Motorcycle deaths in Wisconsin are currently on the rise.  The statistic is upsetting, as the number of motorcycle related deaths is way above the number of deaths that occurred by this time last year.

These accidents highlight some of the safety issues with the road right now.  Better defensive driving will be needed on the road to help reduce the number of accidents.  Proper safety precaution by the rider and others on the road will also be important in helping to reduce the number of accidental deaths.

Large SUVs Can Offer Feeling of Safety But Cause Accidents

by Administrator 22. May 2009 04:54

Many different vehicles are on the road.  From cars small to large, there seems to be something for everybody.

An interesting study was released that indicated that individuals that drive really large sports utility vehicle, have an attitude while driving on the road that causes them to be responsible for a large number of accidents.  The large SUVs can make the driver have a sense of invincibility.  Because of this,  the driver does not take all the proper safety precautions when operating the vehicle.  This causes problems because many times the SUV will protect the driver in an accident,  but will cause extensive damage to the other party involved.

Drunk Driving is a Big Mistake

by Administrator 18. May 2009 06:09

Drinking and driving is one of the biggest mistakes that an individual can make while operating a vehicle.  It simply has so many downsides and negative aspects that it can cause significant problems if you either cause an accident or if you are stopped by law enforcement.

Drunk driving is turning into a costly problem.  It is responsible for the deaths of thousands of people each year and many more accidents.  Many states are adopting very strict zero tolerance policy for drunk driving. If you cause an accident while intoxicated, you are likely to face criminal and civil charges.

Always have a designated driver, or pay a taxi to avoid drunk driving.

Tired Drivers Are Very Dangerous

by Administrator 13. May 2009 04:41

Everyone is familiar with the campaigns that voice against drunk drivers.  Drunk drivers pose a great risk to the safety of others and can lead to many accidents while on the road.  Another group of drivers that may cause accidents and injuries to others would be sleepy drivers.

Drivers that have been driving for a long length of time or who have had little sleep over an extended period of time are at a very large risk of causing an accident while operating a vehicle.  Tired drivers run the risk of following asleep while on the highway or other highly trafficked roads.  This may mean that they could lose control of the vehicle at high speeds and then take out other motorists around them without knowing it.

If an individual is tired while driving, they need to take the proper steps to wake up.  If they do not,  then they need to stop driving.  Falling asleep at the wheel has serious consequences if another individual is injured.

Boating Accident Kills Two

by Administrator 8. May 2009 05:13

Two men lost their lives by drowning in a boating accident that occurred early on Thursday morning.  The men were 27 and 28 years-old.

The events took place at Lake  Wapogasset.  The boat began to fill with water and go under.  A girl-friend of one of the victims was asleep when the accident began, and woke up in water.  The woman then swam to the shore and then went to a house.  The authorities were called and a search and rescue went into effect.  Authorities found the body of the two men around 3:30 a.m. in the water.  The boat was completely submerged at this point.

Department of Transportation Adds Warning Signs on Highway 41

by Administrator 4. May 2009 03:35

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has recently added more warning signs on Highway 41.  The warning signs were placed up after a fatal accident that recently took place on Highway 41.

The added signs on the Highway are part of an effort by the Department of Transportation in order to make the road a safer place as construction and improvement efforts are underway.  The current construction and improvement efforts have been responsible for back-ups and delays while on the highway.

Although the new signs came a day after a recent fatal accident on Highway 41,  officials state that the lack of signs did not cause the previous accident.
